Names Query Help

Why do I get the message, "No Records Returned"?

The short answer is, none of the Name Records in the database records satisfied your search entries.  The database is actually queried before you have an opportunity to enter search entries, so the initial entry screen you see contains that message.

Is the query case sensitive?

No, the query is not case sensitive.  In other words, red, RED, or even rEd will all work equally well.

Can I abbreviate entries?

Yes, abbreviations can be used, but the result may be differ, depending on whether (or not) the abbreviated entry results in more Name Records in the database satisfying the query.

When would I use Names Query (Either)?

Use it when you want to query on only a single name field.  An example would be when you want all the common names containing Drake.  In this case, you would only need to enter Drake in the common name entry box.

When would I use Names Query (Both)?

When you want to query on multiple name fields.  An example might be, you want all common names containing Red Quill for all scientific names containing Paraleptophlebia.  In this case you would enter Red Quill in the common name box, and enter Paraleptophlebia (or Paralep) in the scientific name box.

What if I’m still having trouble using you names database query?

Just email me at FlyfishingEntomology@comcast.net telling me what you’re trying to do, and I’ll respond with instructions for doing it.  Sincerely,  Roger
